Trip to Paris, France

I undertook this trip to the romantic city as a part of an official visit. The flight was from Chennai to Paris via Dubai. Emirates is the best option out there. Their service is par excellence. The stopover in Dubai was for 3 hours, and there was a shopping paradise waiting to be explored.

Finally on reaching the Charles de gaulle airport, I could not wait to get my sneakers on and get going on my sightseeing bus tour. The city was nothing I thought it would be, in fact .. it was something totally unexpected... I wish I had the right words to describe it. Certainly pictures/photos/postcards do no justice to this place. Was I drooling at the sight of Eiffel tower or what!! :)

As I had read the book of "Da Vinci Code", the city seemed even more fascinating and waiting to be discovered.

The first day, rather reached late evening, so couldn't venture out much, dead tired after a long flight. But the next day, I was raring to leave as soon as I was through with a great breakfast.

Though people in Paris understand English/ converse in English to a certain extent, it is better to carry some english to french translation guides to be on the safer side :)

Here are a few sites where the basic french phrases should help you sail thro u r vacation:

FreeTranslation.com = Here the site lets you type sentences/words in English and get them translated in French

Now that u could speak french,:), you could tour paris with their sightseeing buses which give full justification to all that you have to see there. The numbers could be obtained from the hotls itself.

Eurorail is another awesome option if you want to visit other countries, if you have the schengen visa.

Shopping/Food/Entertainment in Paris

Shopping in Paris certainly seems tempting. Designer labels, Parfums, Cosmetics, Fur coats, ooh lala!!

You need to find out from the locals where to find the best deals. You also have the english 2 french guide:) Check out the local flea markets.

Food should not be an issue for veg and non-veg ppl. Paris seems to have cuisines other than French in a decent number. Fast food chains are fast catching up and should be a comforting option.

Travel guides are available one a many.
